Window seat

My wife never gets anything I build, y’all know how that goes. She’s not a paying customer lol. I surprised her with this window seat. It’s 6 1/2 feet long. Top is made from oak barn wood, from her fathers barn. I left a lot of the “character” marks in it and stained with a blend of dark walnut and red mahogany. Finished with three coat of lacquer. The cabinet is 1/2 ply with poplar face frames. Face frames are put together with pocket screws. The arches were cut at the band saw. The arms are scrap pieces of 8/4 white oak that I had. I drew out design and cut arm rest on band saw. Arms rest sits on the two legs which are held together with dowels. Arm rest is fastened to legs with screws with are are hidden by square walnut pegs. The cabinet sits on two barn wood boards that are attached to the legs. One acts as a toe kick and the back one is just for support. You will notice cabinet is not pained. After 23 years of marriage I knew better. Haha! I wouldn’t have picked the right color! She loves it and is currently trying to decide on a color.
